The game story
How it happened.
Massillon stayed unbeaten with a 23–21 road victory over Lakewood St. Edward. Gary Yeager's 232 rushing yards powered the offense, but the outcome wasn't settled until Deontay Malone broke up the Eagles' final pass at the goal line.
A ground-game advantage
With Savior Owens dealing with an ankle issue, Yeager delivered two touchdowns on 16 carries. The Tigers ran for 268 net yards, compared with St. Edward's 111, and held the ball for 28:43. Owens added a second-quarter touchdown and 96 combined rushing and receiving yards.
Every answer mattered
The teams reached halftime tied 7–7. Yeager's long touchdown early in the third quarter put Massillon ahead; Mateo Herrera's 30-yard field goal extended the lead to 16–7. St. Edward twice pulled within one score in the fourth quarter, but Yeager's second touchdown gave the Tigers enough breathing room.
One final stand
Langston Lucas and Joe Moore kept the Eagles dangerous through the air. After St. Edward cut the deficit to two, Malone recovered an onside kick and later denied the last-second Hail Mary. The victory was Massillon's fifth straight in the series, giving the Tigers an 8–4 edge.
