The game story
How it happened.
Massillon opened the 2026 season with a hard-fought 31–18 win over Cleveland Glenville, the three-time Division IV state champion that had beaten the Tigers in overtime a year earlier. A near-capacity Paul Brown Tiger Stadium crowd watched a balanced Tiger attack control the night.
Balanced on offense
The Tigers piled up 183 rushing yards and 186 passing yards. Quarterback Rasmus Haines was superb early, throwing for around 180 first-half yards, including an 82-yard touchdown to Deontay Malone, who finished with 149 yards on five catches. When Glenville dropped extra defenders into coverage, Savior Owens took over on the ground, finishing with 180 yards at 6.9 per carry and two touchdowns.
Answering every threat
Glenville's scores came off a short field after penalties, a 68-yard kickoff return and a muffed punt — but Massillon responded each time. After the Tarblooders closed to 24–18, Owens sealed it with a 40-yard touchdown run on the next drive.
Defense overwhelms
Led by Brydon Feister (8 tackles, 2.5 for loss) and Brayton Feister (6 tackles, 2 for loss), the Tiger defense held Glenville to 124 total yards. Quarterback LaMarques Greenwood accounted for 107 of them.
